Rupin Pass Trek

8 Days

Overview

The pass can be approached from both the sides but it is advisable to start from Uttrakhand or Gosangu in Himachal Pradesh and not Sangla. This adds to the charm of climbing for multiple days before crossing the pass, rather then descending down after crossing the pass on the second day.

When starting this trek from Dhaula / Gosangu, the trek climbs up steadily passing by the villages of Baota, Jiskun, Jhakha before OUR SERVICES
entering into the remote serenity of the pious Rupin valley. The *Trekking *Camping * Rafting *Wildlife

steeply passing through thick and thin forests of conifers and birch, before reaching the beautiful meadow of the Dhanteras Thatch. Here, the intimidating three-stage waterfall of the Rupin

river welcomes us. While in pre-monsoon season, the waterfalls are frozen and only few can be seen falling during the pea time of the day, in the post-monsoon season, you are literally surrounded by numerous waterfalls.. These waterfalls are formed by the melting snows on the higher reaches and forms a major feed to the Rupin river.

A lovely trek through remote, traditional villages of Himachal. The trek is a challenging one. Expect an hour’s descent followed by an hour’s steep ascent.

The day's trek starts off in a magnificent fir forest, one of the best forest sections on any trek. Further, the trail descends down into the valley, snaking on the banks of the Rupin River. Look out for beautiful dwarf rhododendrons after Udaknal, just as you approach the meadows of Saruwas Thatch.

The shortest and perhaps the prettiest day of the trek, as you walk through small meadows, which are flower beds in summer, and beautifully colourful in autumn.

A quick and continuous ascent of the 1,500 ft Rupin Waterfall. In summer, expect to cross the waterfall on a snow bridge. In autumn, the trail is on rocky, and sometimes slippery terrain.

The day's trek involves a steep descent all the way to Sangla, where your trek ends. Despite being the last day, this is one of the most picturesque days as you trek through the lush grasslands of Sangla.

The trek ends at the River Baspa, which marks the beginning of civilization after your 8-day trek.
